Clearly this is "from the hip" and not looking through a viewfinder or at a view-screen. Common technique to find creative angles, framing and composition, it's hit and miss. The challenge is to learn from the random hit and bring it to the viewfinder more deliberately. But when you add the unrepeatable moment in time defined by the smoke, forget trying to control and predict. Just keep clicking the shutter.
