Prayer card, negative, cellophane tape, staples, cardboard strips and plastic packaging on cardboard, 8 x 5 inches, Greenwood, Seattle, March 26th, 2016.

And so two  notes about this piece.  First, it was finished last March, along with a couple of other pieces, and I put them in a pile and forgot about them completely.  So I have not been as attentive to these matters as I could have been and am trying to correct that.

Second, originally this piece was called "It's So Cold in Alaska", and was put together January 28th, 2011 in San Francisco.  At that point it was just the Jesus cross on cardboard and nothing else.  I far prefer this.

"Phinney Ridge, Seattle"

I honestly don't know if I will ever take a photograph that I like as much as this one.  I went by this several times on the bus and looked at it out the window and imagined how I would capture it.  But then I forgot to go down there and do it.  But THEN one day I was out walking and happened past it by chance, and shot two snaps in ten seconds without trying to overthink it.  This one, the second one, was how I dreamed it would look.  So good on me.
