As if we needed any more proof...

  1. OK, I haven't tracked back to see the original post re: JW Misogyny. You surely may have found great evidence. I've only seen/heard JW a couple times. The Coffee and Cigarettes (1993) short film. It Might Get Loud (2008). Portlandia and misc youtube. Taking the link you provide here as an isolated example, we can talk about the degree to which objectification of women is misogynistic. Men are hard-wired to evaluate women's bodies. But this doesn't mean men can't be aware of this predilection and moderate. I'd be happy to never see cheerleaders on display again. This video has strong visual composition. It may be that any image of any woman has the potential to be an objectification. It's up to us to see more.

  2. Well my friend I was being a little ironic/sarcastic here, to be honest. There are no previous posts. I think this is a super sweet song. A counterbalance to all the criticisms he receives - often well-deserved in his day to day life. There was a huge piece in the Atlantic a year or two back talking about how the songs showed what he was really like, etc. I don't recall them drawing attention to this one, though...

  3. The woman is quite diminutive. Doll-like in comparison to him. Somewhat pet like which might be disturbing. Good at remaining motionless. Undoubtedly the prodding at the end was to prove to viewers she was not a mannikin. Also gives the impression of: "Hey, what about that song?" She's playing the role of muse and as such, one can easily imagine complexity. Compare and contrast Scorsese segment in New York Stories (1989) "Life Lessons".
A seemingly basic, unpretentious lighting set-up is very effective. The house dim in the background puts them outdoors on a discarded sofa. Dominant red and white colors punching out in the midst of very muted tones. A welcome example /lesson for me.
