Hey Remember That Time When
George W. Bush said the 9/11 terrorists were cowardly, and Bill Maher said something like well, you know, they are a lot of things, but if you pilot an airplane into the side of a building you are hardly a coward, and he quote unquote enraged viewers for making what on the surface appears to be a perfectly logical comment; of course he ALSO said around that time that the U.S. might have a bit of a cowardly streak about them/us for lobbing cruise missiles at targets that were 2,000 miles away, and this could have got some danders up here and there, collective and otherwise. Anyway, remember when he had to issue an apology for saying these things, specifically that he in no way meant to criticize the men and women in uniform but instead elected officials and the government (which, again, seemed perfectly obvious to me the first time around)?
Boy, that sure was funny, that was.

The Last Paragraph of Martin Amis' "London Fields"
So if you ever felt something behind you, when you weren't even one, like welcome heat, like a bulb, like a sun, trying to shine right across the universe - it was me. Always me. It was me. It was me.

Danielle with Whitey Morgan
The wee small hours of this very morning. Another fine show by the band, and a lovely man to meet. He allowed that I, too, was a good man for being flexible enough to let Danielle follow her dream of running away with him...

Bryan Daniel Doing the Lord's Work
Here, he took a photo I posted in these very pages on 6/14/14 and, well, in his own words -
First I processed in Photoshop with contrast and black&white controls. Then I put it into modo and created a 3d relief based on the black/grey/white. Tweaked the camera and lighting. Then I went back and painted in the color and replaced. Then I framed and matted (pseudo) and thought to add the Boko Haram quote.

Kary (Though in Truth I Do Not Know How to Spell His Name)
There is a very good chance this gentleman does not know that I snapped his picture in the Little Red Hen about a month or so ago, but how could I not? I believe this to be one of the many faces of Jesus manifest for us mortals here on Earth. (Or, you know, something like that. (Though of course if he were Jesus I guess he'd know I took the picture.)) Anyway, for more in depth information on Kary, please refer to a post in these very pages dated 12/7/11.

New Poem Alert - "Boko Haram"
(Second of two I wrote during a conference call at work yesterday. These would be the first two poems I've written in over a year. Tarted this one up today. Onward and upward...)
Boko Haram
I have discovered
if I mis-speak their name,
call them, say, Boca Raton,
they are far less
frightening.
Though, to be fair,
I haven't been to Boca Raton;
perhaps it's terrifying
in its own unique way,
I don't know.
Also,
admittedly, I might have
a different take on this
glib observation
if I were one of the girls.
But, hey -
that's privilege for you.
